Andrew from Well Water Finders surveys land for aquifer recharge potential. The chart highlights subsurface groundwater data used to identify the best locations for creating recharge zones.
Each year, drought and wildfire conditions threaten families and communities across the United States. To meet this challenge, we need to better understand how spring rainfall becomes summer groundwater and how technology can help capture, store, and manage that resource more effectively.
At Well Water Finders, we use our patented technology to identify entry points to aquifers, mapping subsurface structures that can store and transmit water. Our system measures:
Depth and activity levels of aquifers below the surface
Sub-terranean layers capable of holding water
Paths of downward percolation where rainfall moves into aquifers
By combining advanced geophysical insights with infrastructure planning, we can help increase our nation’s groundwater supply.
Imagine a future where landowners are compensated for using their acreage to host aquifer recharge zones, much like solar and windfarm leases today. These strategically placed recharge ponds could provide landowners with a new income stream while contributing to long-term water security.
Our technology enables individual landowners to recharge water beneath their property and municipalities to design regional recharge systems. For example:
One 1-acre percolation pond, with 24” of annual rainfall, could direct more than 325,000 gallons of water into an aquifer each year, enough to support five households.
Multiple ponds, distributed across a community, could significantly strengthen water resilience for rural and urban areas alike.
Recharge zones can also support wildfire response efforts. By placing percolation ponds in fire-prone areas, communities gain emergency water resources that can be tapped during critical events, saving lives, land, and livelihoods.
At Well Water Finders, we’re proud to advance innovation in groundwater detection technology, helping landowners, developers, and communities make smarter, more sustainable water decisions.
