Why should you find well water before you drill a water well?
It’s one of the most common questions we hear from new landowners in Texas: “Do I really need to find water before drilling my well?” The short answer: yes, because it can save you thousands of dollars.
In Texas, well depths vary widely, anywhere from 60 to 1,260 feet depending on location. And costs can be expensive, ranging from $25 to $65 per foot. If your driller hits water at a shallower depth, that’s a win. But if they need to go deeper, 800, 1,000 feet, or more, the costs add up quickly. And in many cases, drillers may need to try multiple locations before finding water. You pay for every attempt, whether successful or not.
By locating groundwater before you drill, you’ll know not only the depth and location of water on your property, but also the potential volume (gallons per minute) thanks to the patented Well Water Finders technology. After all, it’s no good to drill several hundred feet if the well can’t produce enough water for your needs.
That means you can budget accurately and plan better:
If water is available at 300 feet with strong volume, you’ll save significantly.
If you need to drill 1,000 feet, you’ll know upfront, and whether the output is enough to support your home, ranch, or agricultural operation.
For anyone buying rural land and planning a dream home, this knowledge is invaluable. At Well Water Finders, our patented technology helps landowners identify groundwater quickly and affordably, before investing in costly drilling.
