Why groundwater information matters

A little knowledge can change a lot. For a family, a farm, or a whole community, drilling a water well is a major investment. Without good information, it's also a gamble - a dry hole can cost thousands, and a second attempt costs thousands more.

Our patented technology reduces the risk of drilling a dry hole. We can't make water appear, but we can let you know if there's layers containing a high-probability of holding groundwater.  Water for Earth puts that measurement to work where water can make a lasting difference.

Projects we're looking for

We're looking for projects where better groundwater could create lasting benefits for people, communities, or the environment.

Community Water Access

Projects that bring dependable water to homes, schools, community centers, and shared facilities.

Sustainable Agriculture

Farms and ranches advancing responsible groundwater use and long-term sustainability.

Aquifer Recharge & Conservation

Projects working to replenish aquifers, conserve water, or improve groundwater stewardship.

Environmental Restoration

Projects supporting healthy landscapes, wildlife habitat, and water-dependent ecosystems.

Who can apply: Individuals and families, farms and ranches, nonprofits, community groups, businesses, schools, and municipalities or water districts. We select projects for their potential impact - not the applicant's organizational structure or financial need.

How Water for Earth works

1

Tell us about your project

Complete the short application below. Tell us what you're working on and how a groundwater survey could help.

2

We review applications

Applications are open year-round. We review them for impact, how groundwater information would help, and survey feasibility.

3

One project is selected

Each quarter, one project receives a complimentary two-acre On-Site Groundwater Survey. Travel is on us.

4

We survey the site

Our team measures groundwater on the two acres that matter most to your project and delivers a report mapped to landmarks, with coordinates.

Currently serving four states. Water for Earth is open to projects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas.

More than finding water. Helping sustain it.

Groundwater supports our communities, our farms, and the land itself. Protecting it takes more than finding new sources. It also means knowing where water can go back into the ground.

Our survey measures aquifer depth and activity at the site. That helps recharge and conservation projects focus on locations where conditions support infiltration and storage - before any earthwork begins.

Through Water for Earth, we welcome projects exploring aquifer replenishment, water conservation, and long-term water resilience.

Projects larger than two acres are welcome

The award covers a two-acre survey. If your project needs more coverage - a recharge site, a community water system, or a ranch-wide grid - you can add acreage at our standard rate of $1,000 per acre. We'll scope the additional work with you based on what the project requires.

Water for Earth FAQ

What is Water for Earth™?

Water for Earth™ is the philanthropic program of Well Water Finders. Each quarter, we donate a complimentary two-acre On-Site Groundwater Survey, a $2,000 value, to one project that benefits a community or the environment in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Arkansas.

Does it cost anything to apply?

No. Applying is free. The selected project receives a complimentary two-acre groundwater survey, and Well Water Finders covers travel to the site.

Who can apply?

Individuals and families, farms and ranches, nonprofits, community groups, businesses, schools, municipalities, and water districts. You don't need to be a registered nonprofit. Projects are selected for their potential impact, not the applicant's organizational structure or financial need.

Where is Water for Earth available?

Water for Earth is open to projects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas, the four states where we conduct on-site groundwater surveys.

How are recipients selected?

We review each application for three things: the community or environmental benefit the project could create, how groundwater information would help it succeed, and whether a survey is feasible at the site, including access to the property.

When are applications due?

Applications are accepted year-round, and one project is selected each quarter. If your project isn't selected, you're welcome to apply again in a later quarter.

What does the award include?

A two-acre On-Site Groundwater Survey with our patented detection equipment, travel to the site, and a report showing groundwater location, depth, and potential volume at the surveyed coordinates, mapped to landmarks on the property.

Does the award include drilling a water well?

No. The award covers the survey. Drilling, permits, pumps, and well construction are separate. If you need a driller, we can recommend one and make the introduction.

What if our project needs more than two acres?

Larger projects are welcome. The award covers two acres, and additional acreage can be added at our standard rate of $1,000 per acre, scoped to your project's requirements.

What will the survey tell us?

The survey measures groundwater location, depth, and potential volume at the coordinates we survey. Where wells were drilled at our recommended site and depth, our surveys detected groundwater with 90%+ accuracy - confirmed by state-filed well reports. Drilling outcomes still depend on factors beyond the survey, including local geology, nearby wells, drilling technique, and pumping equipment.

Can I nominate someone else?

Yes. Choose the nomination option on the application and tell us how to reach the person or organization. We'll contact them before anything is scheduled, and the property owner's permission is required before any survey.

Will you share our project publicly?

Only with your permission. The application asks whether you're open to sharing your story, photos, or survey results, and your answer does not affect selection. We'll confirm the details with you before anything is published.

Water for Earth™ is Well Water Finders' commitment to putting groundwater intelligence to work for communities and the environment.
